Becca Meyers, who will be a freshman on the Loyola University Maryland swimming and diving team in 2013-14, won her second goal medal at the International Paralympic Committee World Swimming Championships on Friday night in Montreal.
The Timonium native from Notre Dame Prep won the 400-meter freestyle in the S13 category by nearly 23 seconds, touching the wall in 4 minutes, 35.98 seconds. Spain's Marta Maria Gomez Battelli was second in 4:58.61.
The gold was Meyers' second of the games, and third medal overall. She also took top honors in the 200-meter individual medley Monday and Friday night, she earned a silver in the 50-meter freestyle.
Meyers, who was born deaf with Usher syndrome, a rare disorder that affects her sight, concludes her competition at the IPC Championships on Sunday with the 100-meter freestyle.
Loyola coach Brian Loeffler is also in Montreal serving as one of the U.S. team's coaches.
