Maryland will offer three free fishing days — Saturday, June 13 and July 4. No license, trout stamp or saltwater angler registration is required to recreationally fish in state waters on these days.
Maryland also features 23 license-free fishing areas, where anglers can fish without a license throughout the year. Except for Gambrill Park Pond, a free Maryland saltwater angler registration is required to fish in these areas, except on free fishing days.
Fishing Challenge
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources has rolled out the 11th year of the Maryland Fishing Challenge.
Anyone who catches and registers an Angler Award-eligible sport fish will receive a certificate of achievement and a free pass to the Maryland Fishing Challenge Finale on Sept. 13, to be held in conjunction with the Maryland Seafood Festival at Sandy Point State Park.
They will also get shirts and be entered to win prizes that include a Tracker boat, a tropical fishing vacation package, tackle packages, sunglasses and cash.
