Baltimore 5K run/walk

Maryland Half Marathon

May 14: Registration is open for the eighth-annual Maryland Half Marathon & 5K to benefit the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center. The races will be in Maple Lawn in Howard County. There will be a kids fun run and kids zone, as well as music and a postrace festival. The half marathon starts at 8 a.m., the 5K at 8:30 and the kids race at 8:45. Registration for the half marathon is $75 until race day and $90 on race day. Registration for the 5K is $40. The Kids Fun Run is $20, and the kids zone is free. Details and registration: mdhalfmarathon.com.

St. Michaels running

May 21, 2016: Registration is open for the fifth-annual St. Michaels Running Festival. There will also be a 1k Kids Fun Run for children 12 and younger. Information: runstm.com.

Ocean Games

July 16: The fourth-annual Ocean Games will start at 10 a.m. just off the Boardwalk at Caroline Street. The games feature a WOWSA-sanctioned series of 1-, 3- and 9-mile swims, as well as 4- and 2-mile elite and open paddleboard races. And for the first time, an Ultimate disc tournament will be added. The games benefit Johns Hopkins' Brain and Stroke Rehabilitation Program, for which they have raised more than $55,000 since their debut in 2013. Details and registration: oceangamesusa.org.
