, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Patapsco Valley State Park, McKeldin area, 11676Marriottsville Road, Marriottsville, Howard County. Join a park naturalist for discussion and examples of wilderness survival techniques. Topics will include shelter building, fire building, navigation, and foraging. Dress for outdoor program. Pack a lunch and bring water. For ages 10 and up. Meet at shelter600. Preregistration is required; call 410-461-5005. Cost: $25 per person.

Fall Festival at Friend's

, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Deep Creek Lake State Park and NRMA, 3735Sang Run Road, Sang Run, Garrett County. Fall Festival @ Friend's Delight. Includes bird walk, butterfly tagging, a honeybee presentation, pumpkin picking and hay rides. Cost: free.
