Fly-fishing in Pa.

Sept. 6: John Scarborough will discuss fly-fishing around State College, Pa., when he addresses the Free State Fly Fishers at 7:30 p.m. at Davidsonville Family Center, 3727 Queen Anne Bridge Road.

Fishing Derby

Sept. 9: The Pasadena Sportfishing Group's Fishing Derby will be from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Fort Smallwood Park. Ages 4-13. The $5 preregistration fee will be refunded at sign-in. No walk-ins. Details: Go to pasadenasportfishing.com or call 410-439-3474.

Summer Slam

Through Sept. 16: The "Summer Slam" tournament will be held on all tidal waters of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries from the Susquehanna Flats to Chesapeake Bay-Bridge Tunnel. Four divisions: angler, fly, kayak and junior (ages 6-14). Entry fee is $40 per division.

Oct. 7: The Anglers for Oyster Restoration' Rod & Reef Slam will be held from 6:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with a party and awards from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Lowes Wharf Marina Inn in Sherwood. Anglers will fish on three restored oyster reefs. Details: cbf.org/slam.

Potomac rockfish tournament

Oct. 7: The first Potomac River Rockfish Tournament will be held at Aqualand Marina and Campground in Newburg. Winning anglers will receive cash awards in light tackle, trolling and kayak divisions. Proceeds will support Hope4Nichole, a nonprofit that provides breast cancer education and increased awareness while raising money to assist those affected by the disease.
