5K Run/Walk
Saturday, Aug. 1: The Orioles and OriolesREACH will partner with the Casey Cares Foundation to host the sixth annual Casey Cares 5K Run/Walk at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Orioles pitcher Brian Matusz will serve as race ambassador. The 3.1-mile run/1-mile walk will begin at Oriole Park at 8 a.m. and ends on the field. August and September: Baltimore County Game & Fish Protective Association will conduct hunter safety courses on club grounds at 3400 Northwind Road in Carney. Aug. 11: Captain Mark Galasso of Tuna the Tide Charter Service will speak at a meeting of the Northwest Chapter of the Maryland Saltwater Sportfishing Association about tips and tactics for increasing light tackle jigging success during the late summer and fall. Red Trout tournament
Sept. 18-20: The Huk Performance Fishing-CCA Red Trout Catch & Release Tournament will be hosted by Somers Cove Marina in Crisfield. The Coastal Conservation Association Maryland event attracts light tackle, fly and kayak anglers, and this year a live bait category has been added. The tournament promotes sustainable, catch-and-release fishing methods in which anglers photograph their catch for digital submittals in lieu of a weigh-in. The Red Trout tournament was founded in 2013 to draw attention to the value of redfish and speckled trout that have been making a comeback in the Chesapeake Bay the past four years.
