Choptank sailing

Saturdays until Oct. 31: Two-hour sails on the Nathan of Dorchester, a traditional Chesapeake Bay skipjack, will be offered on the Choptank River on Saturdays except July4, Aug. 15, Sept. 26 and Oct. 3. Depart from Long Wharf in Cambridge at 1 p.m. Each sail is unique, depending on wind, weather, captain and crew.On most outings, the crew will demonstrate oyster dredging. Bowfishing for rays

Monday, June 15: Capt. Kyle Johnson will speak at a meeting of the Broadneck/Magothy River chapter of the Maryland Saltwater Sportfishing Association about bowfishing for cownose rays, which are in the Chesapeake Bay and local rivers through September. The meeting at 832 Manhattan Beach Road off Jones Station at Ritchie Highway in Severna Park is free and open to public. Red Trout tournament

Sept. 18-20: The Huk Performance Fishing-CCA Red Trout Catch & Release Tournament will be hosted by Somers Cove Marina in Crisfield. The Coastal Conservation Association Maryland event attracts light tackle, fly and kayak anglers, and this year a live bait category has been added. The tournament promotes sustainable, catch-and-release fishing methods in which anglers photograph their catch for digital submittals in lieu of a weigh-in. The Red Trout tournament was founded in 2013 to draw attention to the value of redfish and speckled trout that have been making a comeback in the Chesapeake Bay the past four years. Golf fundraiser

Sept. 18: The Carroll Hospital Foundation's 25th Annual Carroll Golf Classic will be at Piney Branch Golf in Hampstead. The tournament has a choice of morning or afternoon flights and includes opportunities to win prizes including the Wampler Cup, named in honor of the late Atlee Wampler Jr., one of Carroll Hospital's founding fathers.
