Crabbing techniques

Summer striper patterns

Tuesday: Lenny Rudow, editor of Rudow's FishTalk Magazine, will discuss summer striper patterns in the Chesapeake Bay when he addresses the Northwest chapter of the Maryland Saltwater Sportfishing Association. The meeting will be at Patapsco Council 1960 Knights of Columbus Hall at 1010 Frederick Road in Catonsville. Please use the Beaumont Avenue (side) entrance. June 21: At a meeting of the Annapolis chapter of the Maryland Saltwater Sportfishing Association, Travis Long of Teacher's Pet Fishing Charters will talk about light-tackle fishing and Dan Mallonee of Bay Country Crabbing Supply and Tackle will discuss crabbing. 7 p.m., American Legion Post 7, 1905 Crownsville Road.

Free fishing day

July 4: Fish the state's waters without obtaining a fishing license, stamp or registration. Anglers must adhere to size and catch limits. Details: dnr.maryland.gov.
