Summer Slam

Through Sept. 16: The "Summer Slam" tournament will be held on all tidal waters of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries from the Susquehanna Flats to Chesapeake Bay-Bridge Tunnel. Four divisions: angler, fly, kayak and junior (ages 6-14). Entry fee is $40 per division.


Chub mackerel

Tuesday, May 16: MAFMC scoping hearings will be held to obtain public input on efforts to manage chub (tinker) mackerel. Princess Royale in Ocean City, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Offshore tuna techniques

Wednesday, May 17: Capt. Jeremy Blunt of Wrecker Sport Fishing Charters out of Ocean City will present offshore techniques for catching tuna at an MSSA Annapolis Chapter Meeting. Nick Neary of Canyon Candy Tackle will sell tackle. American Legion Post #7, 1905 Crownsville Road.

Spring turkey season

Through May 23: Spring turkey season, includes Sundays in certain counties. Bag limit is one bearded turkey per day and two bearded turkeys for the season. Shooting hours Tuesday April 18 to May 9 are a half-hour before sunrise to noon; hours May 10 to May 23 are a half-hour before sunrise to sunset.
