Orioles manager Buck Showalter called into an MSNBC show Sunday night

On MSNBC’s “Kasie DC” on Sunday night, journalist and host Kasie Hunt discussed adult film actress Stormy Daniels’ “60 Minutes” interview, interviewed Sen. Claire McCaskill and Rep. John Lewis and voiced her pessimism about the Orioles’ pitching staff.

But only because the guy managing the ballclub had called in.

Hunt grew up in Southeast Pennsylvania and is a “lifelong” Orioles fan who threw out the ceremonial first pitch at a game last year and has a Buck Showalter garden gnome in her office.

When the manager himself called in, she said she was surprised. But she was still prepared to talk baseball. Hunt joked that the Orioles had “hired an entire new team in, like, the last two weeks.” Showalter said the team might have had space for her, too, if she were a left-hander.

Hunt asked what all fans want to know: Is this the Orioles’ year?

“Well, we always feel that way,” Showalter said. “This is our last day of spring training, and we're breaking camp tomorrow, heading north. Hopefully, the weather will turn a little bit better. But you never know. You never know. I'm going to dwell on the time we have. And they're special people. It's been fun to be around them.”
