Posegay has coached at NBAC since 2011 and Bowman praised him as "truly one of the best coaches in this country." Bowman added he has no doubt the Mount Washington club will continue producing Olympic-level swimmers.
"I think it will be great for Erik to take over," he said. "He's younger, and he has a lot left to do in club swimming, whereas I've taken that about as far as I can."
Posegay said he's excited to add to NBAC's decorated history and thanked Bowman for what he called "an invaluable learning experience that I will carry with me the rest of my career."
Bowman has served as CEO of NBAC since 2008, when he and Phelps returned to Baltimore after a stint at the University of Michigan. He and Phelps will continue to hold a lease on the Meadowbrook Aquatic and Fitness Center, where the club trains.
