The week ahead for state men's lacrosse teams (April 26)

Alex Woodall, right, a junior faceoff specialist for the Towson men's lacrosse team, was named the Colonial Athletic Association's Co-Player of the Week after winning a career-high 22 faceoffs in Saturday's 13-7 win over Delaware.

Comment: The Terps are riding a three-game winning streak against the Blue Jays. Sophomore attackman Jared Bernhardt is tied for eighth among all Division I players in man-up goals with seven.

No. 8 Loyola Maryland (10-3)

Comment: The Greyhounds' 4-1 record against the Terriers includes a 23-9 thrashing in a Patriot League game on April 14. Named the conference's Defensive Player of the Year on Monday, senior defenseman Foster Huggins collected the league's Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth straight week after totaling six ground balls and four caused turnovers in Friday's 12-8 win against Army West Point.

No. 11 Navy (9-4)

Coming up: Vs. Lehigh, Friday, 7:30 p.m.

Comment: The Midshipmen extended their winning streak against the Mountain Hawks to four with a 10-7 victory in a Patriot League game on March 24. The conference honored senior attackman Jack Ray as its Offensive Player of the Week after his four-goal, two-assist effort in Saturday's 13-12 win at then-No. 9 Syracuse. Senior Joe Varello was named Faceoff Specialist of the Week after his 16-for-27, seven-ground ball, one-goal performance against the Orange.

Mount St. Mary's (4-9)

Coming up: Vs. Wagner, Saturday, 1 p.m., Waldron Family Stadium

Comment: The Mountaineers are riding a 15-2 advantage over their Northeast Conference rivals, but the Seahawks have won two of the past three games. Redshirt sophomore attackman Stephano Mastro ranks 15th in the nation in shooting percentage at 48.9 percent (22 goals on 45 shots).

Towson (5-7)

Coming up: Vs. Fairfield, Saturday, 11 a.m., Johnny Unitas Stadium

Comment: The Tigers saw their three-game winning streak in this Colonial Athletic Association series end when the Stags pulled out a 9-8 win on April 22, 2017. After winning a career-high 22 faceoffs in 24 attempts and scooping up 13 ground balls in Saturday's 13-7 victory over Delaware, junior Alex Woodall (St. Mary's) shared the league's Player of the Week honors with Massachusetts junior goalie Sean Sconone.

UMBC (5-7)

Coming up: At Vermont, Friday, 7 p.m.

Comment: The Retrievers own a 12-2 record in this America East rivalry, but the Catamounts have won two of the past three meetings. The conference selected senior long-stick midfielder Billy O'Hara as its Defensive Player of the Week after he caused four turnovers and had one ground ball in Saturday's 8-3 win against Hartford. Freshman attackman Steven Zichelli earned Rookie of the Week for his second three-goal outing of the season.
