Connor Fields, Albany, senior
East Amherst, N.Y., attackman
The top-ranked Great Danes’ first victory in four games against No. 2 Maryland was sparked by Fields. The 5-foot-11, 160-pound Tewaaraton Award finalist led all scorers with six points on four goals and two assists in Saturday’s 11-10 win. With Albany trailing 10-6 after three quarters, Fields had a hand in three of his team’s five goals in the final stanza. He started the run with a goal, assisted sophomore midfielder Jakob Patterson’s tally, and then scored the eventual game-winner with 76 seconds left in regulation. On the ensuing faceoff, Fields picked up the ground ball to cement the victory. Fields, who leads all Division I players in points per game at 7.2, was named the America East Offensive Player of the Week.
