The members of the media who vote weekly in the Maverik Top 20 poll were clearly impressed by Johns Hopkins’ convincing 14-6 victory over Towson on Saturday night because the Blue Jays moved from No. 13 to No. 8 in the latest poll released Monday morning.

Johns Hopkins (1-0) was one of three teams to jump into the top 10. Syracuse (1-0) climbed from No. 11 to No. 7 after a 21-4 pummeling of Binghamton on Saturday. And Virginia vaulted from No. 15 to No. 10 after outlasting previously No. 10 Loyola Maryland, 13-12, in double overtime on Saturday. Loyola fell two spots to No. 12.
