There's familiar face atop the next-to-last Maverik media poll released Monday.
Maryland benefited from Yale's 14-8 loss to Cornell in the Ivy League tournament final Sunday to rise one spot to No. 1 in the poll. The Terps (12-3), who lost, 13-10, to Johns Hopkins in the Big Ten tournament final Saturday, were awarded the overall No. 1 seed Sunday night in the NCAA postseason.
Albany (14-2) and Duke (13-3) moved up two spots each to Nos. 2 and 3, respectively, while the Bulldogs (13-3) slipped to No. 4. The Blue Jays (11-4) rose from No. 7 to No. 5.
Loyola Maryland (12-3) remained at No. 6, Cornell (12-4) moved up two spots to No. 7, Notre Dame (9-5) stayed at No. 8, Denver (12-3) slid from No. 3 to No. 9, and Virginia (12-5) remained at No. 10.
The biggest riser in the poll was No. 12 Georgetown (12-4), which had been No. 18. The Hoyas upended the Pioneers for the Big East tournament championship Saturday.
Robert Morris (12-4) returned to the poll, sitting at No. 18 after outlasting Saint Joseph's, 10-9, in overtime of the Northeast Conference tournament final. The Colonials are one spot ahead of Navy (9-5), which dropped two spots.
Here is how the poll shakes out.
