Johns Hopkins ties school record for consecutive wins

Senior quarterback Hewitt Tomlin threw for 390 yards and two touchdowns and ran for one to lead host Johns Hopkins (6-0, 5-0 Centennial Conference) to a 47-6 win over visiting Dickinson (2-4, 2-3).

The win is the 11th straight for the Blue Jays, who tied the school record for consecutive wins.

Hopkins, ranked No. 15 in Division III, has the third-longest active winning streak in all divisions of NCAA football.

Tomlin became the Centennial Conference's career leader in total offense (9,154 yards) and tied the league record for career 300-yard passing games (nine).

His efforts fueled a 632-yard outburst for the Blue Jays that ranks as the third-best in school history.

Hopkins led just 10-3 early in the second quarter before scoring two touchdowns in an eight-minute span to push the lead to 24-3 at the half. A 1-yard run by senior Nick Fazio capped a 10-play, 73-yard drive to make it 17-3 and junior Jonathan Rigaud added a 25-yard scoring run with just over a minute remaining in the half.

Any hopes of a Dickinson comeback were dashed in five-minute span midway through the third quarter when Tomlin threw a 45-yard touchdown pass to senior Sam Wernick and a 44-yard touchdown pass to junior Scott Cremens. The scoring passes, which bookended a 47-yard field goal by Dickinson's David London, gave the Blue Jays a 37-6 lead and Tomlin capped his night with a 2-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter.

Bowie State: Senior Tariq Jones rushed for a career-high 171 yards on 33 carries to help lead the visiting Bulldogs (4-3, 3-2 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association) to a 22-10 win at Lincoln (Pa.).

Bowie ended a three-game losing streak.
