No. 9 Johns Hopkins men (2-1) @ No. 4 North Carolina (3-0)
When: Saturday, 2 p.m.
Outlook: The Blue Jays sandwiched a surprising 7-5 loss at No. 16 Towson with victories over UMBC and Villanova, but they will face their biggest test thus far in a Tar Heels squad that has outscored its opponents 54-21. Four players each scored three goals in North Carolina's 20-8 demolition of Massachusetts on Saturday, the first time the team has done that since April 24, 2009.
No. 2 North Carolina women (3-0) @ No. 1 Maryland (1-0)
When: Saturday, noon
Outlook: In the their past 48 games, the Terps have lost only twice — both times to North Carolina (the 2013 triple-overtime NCAA final and in the 2014 regular season). Over the past three years, the teams have split six meetings. This season, the Terps have an edge in early-season chemistry with 10 starters back, including Tewaaraton-winning midfielder Taylor Cummings (McDonogh). The Tar Heels also have experience, but several of their key players, including fifth-year senior midfielders Brittney Coppa and Kelly Devlin, missed last season with injuries and hadn't played with many of their young teammates until this year.
