Duke men’s lacrosse tops first Maverik media poll of 2018; Maryland second

The first Maverik men’s lacrosse media poll of 2018 was released Tuesday morning, and Duke was voted as the preseason No. 1 by a panel of 32 media personalities. The Blue Devils accrued 12 first-place votes and 552 points.

Maryland, the reigning NCAA Division I champion, earned 10 first-place votes and 539 points to rank second. Albany accumulated six first-place nods and 518 points to rank third.


Rounding out the top five are Denver at No. 4 with one first-place vote and 508 points and Yale at No. 5 with 471 points.

Among area teams, Loyola Maryland is No. 10, Johns Hopkins No. 13, and Towson No. 14.
