Blast stays unbeaten with 11-4 win over Silver Knights

In a Major Arena Soccer League win that showcased its strong defense and goalkeeper play, the Blast (4-0) defeated the host Syracuse Silver Knights, 11-4. After the Silver Knights' Elmo Neto scored early in the second half to tie the game at 4, the Blast took over. Lucas Roque found the corner of the net with a shot that gave the Blast a 6-4 lead entering the fourth quarter. Goalie William Vanzela (13 saves) ended the game with strong play in net, and Syracuse (1-2) was held scoreless for the rest of the way. Tony Donatelli and Onua Obasi scored empty-net goals to seal the win.

Gymnastics: Donnell Whittenburg of Baltimore will compete in the men's all-around at the DTB Pokal World Cup today in Stuttgart, Germany.

Outdoors: Coastal Conservation Association Maryland, which advocates for the health and sustainability of the state's marine resources, elected Frank Bonanno of Baltimore as its state treasurer and re-elected Larry Jennings of Annapolis as its secretary.
