Julian Pimentel will ride 5-2 favorite Dads Caps instead of Ben's Cat on Saturday in the $350,000 De Francis Dash, part of Laurel Park's nine-race $981,000 Fall Festival of Racing. Ben's Cat likely will be scratched. C.C. Lopez was named to ride Bern Identity. The 54-year-old was aboard the son of Bernstein when he won the Dave's Friend Stakes at Laurel on Sept. 6

Ravens: Former Cleveland Browns starting fullback Kiero Small (Cardinal Gibbons) is joining the Ravens practice squad, sources said Thursday. Small was drafted in the seventh round this year by the Seattle Seahawks but was released before the start of the regular season. The Ravens cut wide receiver Jace Davis from the practice squad.

McDaniel was picked to finish third and Washington College eighth. ... Salisbury was predicted to win the Capital Athletic Conference, according to the preseason coaches poll. National Women's Soccer League: The Washington Spirit has acquired goalkeeper Kelsey Wys and a fourth-round pick in the 2016 draft from the Western New York Flash for the rights to goalkeeper Chantel Jones.

Motor sports: IRG Sports + Entertainment has acquired Maryland International Raceway in Budds Creek in St. Mary's County. Maryland International Raceway will retain its name but has been rebranded with a new logo and web address: RaceMDIR.com.
