Digest (Aug. 26): Towson finishes perfect in volleyball tournament

The Tigers used a pair of 3-1 wins to close out the Catamount Classic hosted by Western Carolina on Saturday. The Tigers defeated Western Carolina in the opener and then took down Charleston Southern to close out the tournament with a perfect 3-0 record. Senior Julymar Otero and juniors Jocelyn Kuilan and Anna Holehouse were named to the All-Tournament team. Otero finished the weekend with 33 kills, a .286 hitting percentage and 13 digs. Kuilan contributed 42 kills, a .326 hitting percentage, 15 digs and four blocks. Holehouse led the defensive efforts with 79 digs, including a career-high 34 digs against Western Carolina.

Loyola men's soccer: Sophomore Josh Fawole put away junior Gabriel Carlsson's corner kick in the 104th minute Friday night, giving the Greyhounds a 5-4 season-opening win over La Salle in double overtime at McCarthy Stadium. Sophomore Barry Sharifi and junior A. Mickey Watson also scored in the game, while freshman Sam Brown and sophomore Sam Carter each recorded their first collegiate goals. The Greyhounds host St. John's tonight at 7 o'clock in their home opener at Ridley Athletic Complex.

Arena Bowl XXX: The Philadelphis Soul edged the Tampa Bay Storm, 44-41, to win its second straight Arena Football League title. Dan Raudabaugh threw for four touchdowns and Mykel Benson rushed for two for the Soul.
