Morgan State men's basketball to open season at Virginia, Towson

Morgan State will open this season with road games against Virginia (Nov. 13) and Towson (Nov. 16). The Bears will play Goldey-Beacom in their home opener Nov. 23. Morgan State will travel to face Cincinnati (Dec. 6) and host Manhattan (Dec. 20), both NCAA tournament teams last season. … CCBC-Catonsville announced the retirement of men's basketball coach Randy Gregory and the hiring of Greate White as his successor. Gregory, who was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS in 2011, won 204 games over 16 seasons. White joined the Cardinals coaching staff last season as an assistant under Gregory.

WNBA: Ivory Latta made four 3-pointers and scored 20 points to lead the Washington Mystics to their fourth straight victory, an 87-74 win over the Seattle Storm. Tayler Hill added 18 points for Washington (10-6), and All-Star Stefanie Dolson had 17 points and nine rebounds. The Mystics scored 34 first-quarter points and 53 first-half points, both season highs. Abby Bishop had 17 points for Seattle (5-14), which has lost seven straight on the road.

Men's college soccer: Wake Forest's Michael Gamble (McDonogh) and Maryland's Mael Corboz, Alex Crognale and Chris Odoi-Atsem were among 28 players selected by U.S. under-23 men's national team coach Andi Herzog to train in Carson, Calif., next week for a College Identification training camp that will allow the coaching staff to scout a new crop of college players as the team continues preparations ahead of October qualifying for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. "I am delighted that Juergen Klinsmann and Andi Herzog have decided to give our top college players a look in advance of the Olympic qualifying tournament," Maryland coach Sasho Cirovski said. "It is an extremely positive statement by US Soccer that our college players are an important part of our country's player development program."

Women's college lacrosse: Morgan Stephens was added to UMBC's coaching staff as an assistant.
