The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals is expected to rule today on a motion by Towson University to stay an order by the U.S. District Court that would allow Gavin Class, a lineman, to practice with the football team until the school's appeal is heard, probably this fall. Two weeks ago, U.S. District Judge Richard D. Bennett ruled that Towson could not bar Class from practice. In 2013, Class (St. Paul's) suffered a near-fatal heat stroke during a team workout but recovered, and doctors have said it would be safe for him to play. The university has said its personnel does not have the expertise needed to monitor Class' core temperature during practice, which begins Aug. 9.

McCoy: 'Pretty clear' that Griffin will be starter at QB
During an appearance Friday on WTEM (980 AM), Washington Redskins quarterback Colt McCoy was asked whether he thinks he has a chance to win the starting quarterback job in training camp, which starts Thursday in Richmond, Va. "No, I don't think so," he said. Coach "Jay [Gruden] has made it pretty clear that Robert [Griffin III] is the starting quarterback, and I'm fully supportive of him. I don't want to stir up any controversy here. He took all the [No. 1] reps this spring during OTAs and minicamp, and I did my best to be the veteran guy in the room and help him out as much as I could. Not that he needs my help, but I felt like we have a good relationship." McCoy hasn't started more than four games since 2011, when he went 4-9 in Cleveland.
