Navy baseball rallies, loses to Lehigh in Game 3 of Patriot League championship

The winningest season in Navy history ended Sunday as the top-seeded Midshipmen (37-20) lost the decisive Game 3 in 10 innings, 4-3, to second-seeded Lehigh (25-27) in the Patriot League championship. With an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament on the line, host Navy won Game 2, 9-8, in 11 innings. The game had been suspended because of lightning and rain in the bottom of the 10th inning the night before. The series was decided in the top of the 10th, with the score tied at 3. The Mountain Hawks got a leadoff double and two singles to push across the go-ahead run.

More college baseball: Maryland finished tied for third in the Big Ten Conference and enters this week's league tournament as the No. 4 seed. The Terps will face fifth-seeded Michigan State at 10 p.m. Wednesday at Target Field in Minneapolis. The tournament's double-elimination format will culminate with a championship game Sunday. Saturday's games will feature the winners of each bracket facing the remaining one-loss team from the opposite bracket in the semifinals. Maryland (36-20-0, 14-10), the preseason favorite to win the Big Ten, lost two straight to Northwestern (18-36-0, 8-16) before rallying to deny the Wildcats a weekend sweep with a 4-3 win Saturday. … UMBC lost to visiting Hartford (22-29, 10-12 America East Conference) in its regular-season finale Saturday, 7-3. The Retrievers (32-18, 14-10) will head to the conference tournament at LeLacheur Park in Lowell, Mass., as the No. 2 seed. UMBC ended the regular season with a 20-3 record at home, its best in program history. … Visiting Towson lost to Delaware, 10-4, on Saturday. The season-ending defeat dropped the Tigers to 17-35-2 overall and 9-15 in Colonial Athletic Association play. The Blue Hens improved to 23-22, 11-13.

National Women's Soccer League: Francisca Ordega scored in the 92nd minute on an assist from Crystal Dunn as the Washington Spirit (3-2-1) earned a 1-0 home victory against Sky Blue FC (1-3-2) on Saturday night.

Baseball: The Cleveland Indians designated former Orioles left-hander Bruce Chen for assignment Saturday. Chen, 37, was 0-1 with a 12.79 ERA in two starts.
