No. 14 Massachusetts (10-1, 3-0 Atlantic 10 Conference) earned a 13-9 win over host George Mason (7-3, 2-1) to set the NCAA record with 39 straight conference wins.
Northwestern had originally set the record with 38 straight American Lacrosse Conference wins from 2005 to 2011. The Minutewomen have won every Atlantic 10 regular-season game since March 2011.

Four-star DT Spence commits to Terps
IMG Academy (Fla.) four-star defensive tackle Cam Spence, a transfer from Gilman, announced his oral commitment to Maryland on Friday during a broadcast on Periscope. Spence is the No. 12 defensive tackle and No. 190 player in the nation in the 247sports.com composite rankings.
Four-star St. John's (D.C.) quarterback Kasim Hill, another Gilman transfer, and three-star Good Counsel linebacker Ayinde Eley, both Maryland targets, are scheduled to make their oral commitments Saturday.

Baseball: Maryland received a strong performance from sophomore right-hander Taylor Bloom to win Game 1 before winning Game 2 in walk-off fashion to sweep a doubleheader against visiting Ohio State.
The Terps (17-15, 3-2 Big Ten Conference) gave up one run over 19 innings in two games.
Bloom pitched a shutout to lead the Terps to a 3-0 victory in Game 1. The Crofton resident took a no-hit bid into the sixth and retired the first 16 Ohio State batters in order. Bloom finished with five strikeouts and allowed just three hits. The complete game was Bloom's conference-leading third of the season.
In Game 2, junior Madison Nickens hit a walk-off single to score sophomore Zack Jancarski in the bottom of the 10th inning for a 2-1 victory.
Men's lacrosse: Chris DiPretoro scored six goals but visiting Mount St. Mary's (5-4) fell, 15-10, to Bucknell (7-4). … Matt Tompkins scored three goals to lift host Stevenson (7-4) to a 10-8 victory over York (12-2).
Women's lacrosse: Cynthia Del Core scored with 16 seconds left to lift No. 6 Southern California (12-0, 6-0 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) to a 9-8 win over host Colorado (8-4, 3-2). … Kelsey Murray scored five goals to lead No. 10 Stanford (9-2, 4-0 MPSF) to a 14-2 victory over host Oregon (8-5, 3-3). … Sammie Knapp (Loch Raven) and Kelly Maloney (River Hill) each scored two goals but host Mount St. Mary's (2-9, 0-1 Northeast Conference) fell, 17-7, to Bryant (7-3, 1-0).

Ravens WR Worthy waived after spending 2015 on IR
The Ravens announced that they have released wide receiver Cam Worthy, who spent the entire 2015 season on injured reserve. Worthy, an undrafted free agent out of East Carolina, missed last year's training camp after he suffered a stress fracture in his foot during the spring. In two seasons at East Carolina, he had 74 receptions for 1,311 yards and four touchdowns.

Horse racing: Maryland-bred and based multi-millionaire Ben's Cat moved closer to his 10-year-old debut with a five-furlong run Thursday at rainy Laurel Park. Ben's Cat had the fastest time of four horses over the main track, finishing in 1 minute, 3 seconds in the fifth work since returning from his annual winter vacation. Ben's Cat has not run since finishing seventh in the Fabulous Strike Handicap Nov. 25 at Penn National. … Along with the running of the $100,000 Federico Tesio and $100,000 Weber City Miss at Laurel Park, the $1 million Santa Anita Derby (G1), $1 million Blue Grass (G1) at Keeneland and $1 million Wood Memorial (G1) at Aqueduct will be shown live at Laurel and Pimlico Race Course as well as the Maryland Jockey Club's off-track betting facilities at Timonium and the Horseshoe Casino.
