Sammy Jo Tracy scored with 4:48 left in double overtime to lift No. 2 North Carolina (8-1) to a 15-14 win over host Towson in women's lacrosse. Seven Tigers (2-2) scored in the game, including freshman midfielder Emily Gillingham, who gave the Tigers a lead in the first overtime. Freshman attacker Erika Cavallo scored three straight goals to give the Tigers an 11-10 lead with 12:56 left in regulation. A goal by North Carolina's Marie McCool tied the game at 11. Back-to-back goals from redshirt senior attacker Andi Raymond and sophomore midfielder Michelle Gildea gave Towson a 13-11 lead with 5:49 to go in regulation. Molly Hendrick scored on a free-position goal to make it 13-12, but the Tigers had the ball with 33 seconds to play in regulation. North Carolina forced a turnover on the clear attempt, and Aly Messinger scored the game-tying goal with seven seconds to play.

Golf: Charles "Chuck" Acquisto, a 1989 graduate of Loyola College (now Loyola Maryland) and 1996 graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law, has compiled a recently published book, "Wisdom For A Young Golfer." The collection of letters and inspirational advice from people who have succeeded in the sport is targeted to all golfers, but especially those new to the game, such as members of The First Tee program. First Tee is a nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to affecting young people by providing learning facilities and education programs that promote character development as well as life-enhancing values through golf.
