Towson opens CAA play with 67-66 loss to James Madison in women's basketball

Precious Hall hit a pair of free throws with 17 seconds left to lift the James Madison women's basketball team to a 67-66 win over visiting Towson on Sunday in both teams' Colonial Athletic Association opener. Redshirt senior forward LaTorri Hines-Allen led the Tigers with a career-high 31 points and 10 rebounds in the loss. The two teams traded points before James Madison (10-2) took a 65-64 lead with 37 seconds left in the game. Hines-Allen converted a pair of free throws with 25 seconds to go, which put the Tigers (4-9) up 66-65. But a foul by the Tigers sent Hall to the line with 17 seconds left, and the Tigers' last-second shot fell short.

More Division I: Despite a 32-11 run by host Morgan State that cut Brown's lead to three points with almost two minutes left, the Bears fell, 59-52. Freshman guard Braennan Farrar had a team-high 19 points for Morgan State (3-10), including a 3-pointer with 2:08 left that narrowed the deficit to 55-52. But a steal by Jordin Alexander and layup by Ellise Sharp gave Brown (4-8) a commanding five-point lead.
