The visiting Blast rode an 11-point surge in the fourth quarter to a 19-9 victory over the Norfolk SharX on Sunday afternoon in the Major Indoor Soccer League.
Machel Millwood, Max Ferdinand and Stephen DeRoux scored two goals each to lead the Blast to its 16th win with just two regular-season games remaining.
The teams traded goals throughout the first half, with Norfolk taking two short-lived leads and the Blast tying the game each time. Ferdinand scored in the first quarter, and DeRoux scored back-to-back goal less than four minutes apart in the second quarter, but Matt Clare kept the SharX in the match with a late second-half goal for the third tie of the game, 6-6.
Millwood scored the lone goal of the third quarter to put the Blast on top 8-6 and again bring its offense to life. Ricardinho, Adauto Neto, Millwood and Ferdinand scored in the first eight minutes of the final quarter before Carlos Garcia got a three-point goal to extend the Blast lead to 19-6.
SharX leading scorer Miguel Ferrer's third goal of the day goal made it 19-9 late in the game.
