Former Raven Ray Lewis joins Showtime’s 'Inside the NFL'

After his ouster from ESPN last year, Ray Lewis spent the 2016 NFL season on the sideline. Now the former Ravens linebacker, and often-criticized analyst, has a pair of new jobs.

A month after heading to Fox as an NFL contributor, Lewis has joined Showtime’s weekly “Inside the NFL” series. He will join analysts Phil Simms and Boomer Esiason (Maryland) and host James Brown for the the new season of the studio show, which debuts Sept. 5 at 9 p.m.

"We are excited to welcome future Hall of Famer Ray Lewis to our team," Stephen Espinoza, executive vice president and general manager of Showtime Sports, said in a release. "Ray is experienced, knowledgeable and opinionated, and he will be a great fit on the set with JB, Phil and Boomer.”

Lewis replaces New York Giants wide receiver Brandon Marshall, whose practice schedule reportedly does not accommodate the show’s taping dates.

According to Awful Announcing, Lewis’ new gig likely will lessen his appearances on the West Coast-based Fox and Fox Sports 1, as “Inside the NFL” tapes in New Jersey.
