In the lead up to the 86th All-Star Game in Cincinnati on July 14, Major League Baseball unveiled the results of its Franchise Four contest with fans voting for the four best players in the history of all 30 teams.

On Monday, I wrote a blog suggesting that midfielder James M. Darcangelo, attackman Bob Griebe, midfielder Rob Shek and attackmen Glenn Smith would represent Towson's "Franchise Four." You can read more about the four players and some players in consideration here.

Continuing this series and going in alphabetical order, here is one person's take on the Mount Rushmore for UMBC. Like the MLB model, coaches were not included, and players are listed in alphabetical order.

Goalkeeper Jeremy Blevins (2006-09) – Two-time NCAA Division I honorable-mention All-American in 2008 and 2009 … America East Rookie of the Year in 2006 and Player of the Year in 2009 … Fourth in program history in all-time saves (627).

Attackman Stephen Marohl (1989-92) – Previous NCAA Division I record holder for points in single season (114 in1992) and assists (77 in 1992) … Third-team All-American in 1992 … School's career leader in points (242), assists (137) and shots (339) … Ninth in goals (105).

Defenseman George McGeeney (1979-82) – Two-time All-American and program's first Division I first-team selection, achieving that honor in 1982 … School's first player to earn All-American status in multiple seasons … Winner of the William C. Schmeisser Award given to the country's outstanding defenseman in 1982.

Attackman Brendan Mundorf (2003-06) – One of program's nine Division I players who have achieved All-American status in multiple seasons (honorable mention in 2005 and third team in 2006) … Sixth in school history in all-time points (185), tied for sixth in goals (112) and ninth in assists (73) … America East Player of the Year in 2005 and 2006.

Others in consideration were attackmen Dan Marohl, Dave Quattrini, Jay Robertson, Jason Smith, Chris Turner and Drew Westervelt, midfielders Mark Gold and Terry Kimener, faceoff specialist Phil Poe, long-stick midfielder Chris Cain, defensemen Bruce Baldwin, Jason Quenzer and Bobby Ritz and goalkeepers Bob Bailey and Tom Dunlap. Unfortunately, with only four spots available, some difficult decisions had to be made.
