Towson men's lacrosse slips to No. 3 seed in CAA tournament, will face Drexel

Towson let a prime opportunity to slip away.

The No. 16 Tigers had a chance to capture the top seed and home-field advantage in next week's Colonial Athletic Association tournament with a victory at Drexel on Saturday. Powered by three goals in the second half from both junior midfielder Ben McCarty (South Carroll) and redshirt senior attackman Max Siskind, they rallied from a 7-2 deficit at halftime with six unanswered goals to take an 8-7 lead with 11:45 left in the fourth quarter.

But the Dragons scored four of the game's last six goals to pull away with an 11-10 win.

The loss means that Towson (9-5, 3-2), mired in its first two-game losing skid of the season, slid to the No. 3 seed and will meet second-seeded Drexel (7-7, 3-2) again in Thursday's semifinal round of the conference tournament.

Top-seeded Fairfield (9-5, 4-1), which will host the tournament, will face No. 4 seed Massachusetts (4-9, 2-3) in the other semifinal. The times for both semifinals and Saturday's championship have yet to be announced.
