Trent Dilfer, who quarterbacked the Ravens to the Super Bowl XXXV title, is among the majority that picks the Denver Broncos to defeat the Seattle Seahawks. And the "Monday Night Countdown" analyst thinks the game will be a classic.
"What will go down as one of the best Super Bowls ever, Peyton [Manning] drives the Broncos down the field for a touchdown on the final possession to win it," he says, guessing a 27-24 score.
In a prediction that shouldn't surprise anybody, two-time Super Bowl champ Ray Lewis sides with the better defense.
“Overall, Seattle is a better team," Lewis says, taking the Seahawks by a 21-17 margin. "Denver relies so much on Peyton that if he has an average day it’s not enough. And, I think the weather favors Seattle with its defense.”
Former Maryland undergrad Scott Van Pelt is right there with him. The popular radio host and SportsCenter anchor is picking Seattle, 23-20.
“Defense tends to trump offense in these spots," he says. "I’m leaning on that.”
