Contrary to a previous report on this blog, defenseman Robert Enright has elected not to return to Johns Hopkins for the 2016 campaign.
Enright, a senior whose season was cut short after suffering a knee injury in the team's 13-11 loss at North Carolina on Feb. 21, could have applied for a medical redshirt to regain a year of eligibility.
But Enright has already graduated and lined up a job with Barclays Bank, and he informed the coaching staff of his intention to move on to the next chapter of his life, said Ernie Larossa, the sports information director for the Blue Jays.
Enright's decision leaves Johns Hopkins, which advanced to the NCAA tournament semifinals for the first time since 2008, with just one returning starting close defenseman in sophomore Nick Fields. Junior Eddie Morris, who had been tabbed to replace Enright before suffering a season-ending knee injury of his own, is on pace in his rehabilitation and could slide into a starting role.
Blue Jays coach Dave Pietramala is on the road recruiting and was unavailable for comment.
