Don't flip your bat at Josh Beckett or ask him about it

Orioles outfielder Luke Scott irked Red Sox starter Josh Beckett last night by watching his two-run home run exit the ballpark (if you cranked a 426-foot homer onto Eutaw Street, you would stop and admire it, too). And after Scott flipped his bat on his way out of the batter's box, Beckett gave him an earful as he rounded the bases.

Apparently, Scott was too busy basking in the glory of his homer to notice that Beckett was yelling and staring him down.

“I didn’t notice anything,’’ Scott said

after the Orioles' thrilling 5-4 victory

at Camden Yards. “I was just kind of enjoying the moment and just, as I usually do, I try to just enjoy this opportunity with the Lord as much as I can.’’

Scott, who went 1-for-4 in last night's game, also told reporters that he has "

all the respect in the world for Josh Beckett

" and called him "one of the best pitchers in the game." Meanwhile, in the visitor's clubhouse, Beckett was lashing out at reporters

who asked him about Scott's bat flip

.

"What is this, TMZ?'' Beckett said. "I thought we were talking about a baseball game. You want to know about bat flips and talking to umpires. I think, why don't we just stick to the game.''

Will there be retribution the next time Beckett faces Scott? Sure sounds like it.

"Those things have a way of working themselves out," Beckett said.
