Ripken on old Yankee Stadium: 'This is the coolest place ever'

"Absolutely," Ripken said. "I’ll preface it by saying it’s not good to play in it when you’re good and they’re bad because I’ve been there during the 80s when that was the case. It’s especially not good when you’re bad and they’re very good. That’s no fan at all. But if you’re good and they’re good and you have a September series in there, there’s nothing like it."

Ripken said that the old Yankee Stadium would spring to life whenever the Yankees rallied, and that the fans would react "to every important pitch."
