McDaniel College honored as a top tailgating school

Before today, the only thing I knew about the McDaniel College football team was that they let the Ravens use their field for a few weeks every summer. But after receiving a pretty interesting press release from the college's public relations department, I hope the Ravens will adopt their tailgating policies at next summer's training camp.

McDaniel College will be honored as one of the top seven tailgating schools in the country by The Weather Channel. It will appear in a special on Tuesday, October 18, at 9 p.m. Yes, I know, you usually flip over to The Weather Channel for coverage on Nor'easters, not college football. Still, it's a pretty cool recognition.

So how did a small school in Westminster crack a list otherwise filled with Division I football universities?

Forgive me if you knew this already, but during games, the college lets fans park their vehicles next to the field, where they can grill out, drink American beers from cans, play cornhole, chill in lawn chairs and do pretty much anything else you normally do at a tailgate. I will become a Green Terror fan effective immediately.

Their next home game is noon on Saturday, October 15, when they play some school I've never heard of.

You bring the beer and bratwursts. I'll bring the officially licensed Green Terror cornhole set.
