McShay thinks Ravens can land Terps' Smith in second round

Maryland wide receiver Torrey Smith has been mentioned as a potential first-round pick by the Ravens in many mock drafts due to his speed, big-play ability and local ties. In his latest mock draft, ESPN's Todd McShay also projected that the Ravens would select Smith -- in the second round of the draft.

Scouts Inc., which McShay is affiliated with, isn't high on the junior wideout, but most draft experts expect Smith to come off the board late in the first round or early in the second.

More than half of the NFL's 32 teams sent scouts or personnel people to Maryland's pro day on Wednesday, and Smith has been linked to the Bengals, Patriots and Lions in recent days. Smith said he has interviewed with 18 teams so far. Asked if he would work out for the Ravens, he said it's "top-secret information."

Ravens Director of College Scouting Joe Hortiz was impressed with Smith's performance in drills on Wednesday.

"We came out here to see how he catches the ball, how he runs his routes and how he competes in the drills," Hortiz told the team's website.  "He was attacking everything full-speed, and I think he did a good job with that."

So will the Ravens pounce on Smith at pick No. 26? Or will they wait until Round 2 like McShay suggested?
