I love this quote from Luke Scott, who was scheduled to undergo season-ending surgery on his injured right shoulder Tuesday morning in Florida: "I'll learn to be ambidextrous with firearms, so I look at it as a positive."
Scott had a career year in 2010 and was named the team's Most Valuable Player. But playing in just 64 games this season, Scott batted .220 with nine home runs and 22 runs batted in. The primary cause for his struggles was a tear in his right labrum. Scott tried to play through the pain, but it clearly affected his performance.
The O's really could have used a healthy Luke Scott this season.
Say what you want about his political views -- I did a few months ago and some bashed me for it -- but Scott is a fan favorite for his towering home runs, his candidness and his everyman appeal.
Camden Yards is going to be quieter without all those Luuuuke chants. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery so he can get back to baseball -- and firing guns with his primary trigger finger -- ASAP.
