I think I may have figured out why Jordan Williams was in such a hurry to get to the NBA: the women.
New Jersey power forward Kris Humphries is the latest mediocre NBA big man to net himself a model. The basketball vagabond, who has averaged 5.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game in seven NBA seasons, is now engaged to reality show star Kim Kardashian. He gave her a 20.5-carat diamond engagement ring last week, which means he wasn't making D-League money while coming off the bench for the Nets.
Humphries, who had his best season in the NBA in 2010-11 while averaging a double-double, joins the likes of Marco Jaric, who is married to Victoria's Secret model Adriana Lima, and Danilo Gallinari, who is reportedly dating actress Michelle Trachtenberg, as ordinary seven-footers who somehow scored celebs. Of course, we know these women probably couldn't care less about their beau's on-court prowess.
That's why there is hope for Jordan Williams. He might not be a first-round draft pick next month -- he is reportedly working hard to sneak into Round 1 -- and there are questions about whether he will make it in the NBA, but Humphries' engagement to Kardashian should be extra incentive for Williams to keep grinding.
I say all this with tongue in cheek, naturally, and as an excuse to link up to this photo gallery. Enjoy.
