In what is thought the be the first dual-Bundy interview in the history of modern civilization, brothers and fellow Orioles pitching prospects Dylan and Bobby Bundy were guests on "The Norris & Davis Show" on 105.7 The Fan on Wednesday morning. The Orioles selected the former with the fourth overall pick on Monday.
By no fault of host Steve Davis, the interview might have made a few decaffeinated people fall asleep at the wheel on the way to work. That sort of thing can happen when you interview a senior in high school. But credit is due to Davis for getting one great quote out of the beastly Bundy who has been compared to pitchers such as Nolan Ryan and Roger Clemens and who is looking for a Strasburgian signing bonus.
At the end of the interview, Davis asked the Bundy brothers how they would handle Bryce Harper if he blew them a kiss after hitting a home run like the cocky Nationals prospect did in a game Monday night.
"If I was pitching the next game, I would hit him all four at-bats," said Dylan Bundy, winning over most of Baltimore with that answer.
Bobby Bundy, a 21-year-old starter for the Frederick Keys, agreed with his younger brother, though he was a little more diplomatic.
"Same thing, the kid can't do that," he said. "That was a little over the top. I guess he did get hit in previous at-bats and maybe he felt like it was for nothing. But still, in baseball etiquette you don't blow a kiss to the pitcher like that."
Can't wait for the Bundys to get here? You will probably have to wait a couple of years. Dylan Bundy predicted that both will be called up to the majors on the same day in 2013.
