Ravens wide receiver Donte' Stallworth, who will become a free agent whenever the NFL lockout is finally lifted, is not very happy with basketball fans on Twitter who bashed Chris Bosh and other Miami Heat players for crying after they lost to the Dallas Mavericks in the sixth and deciding game of the NBA Finals.
"All y'all making fun of Bosh for crying need to shut your mouths!! Y'all don't understand how BAD it hurts to lose a world championship!!!" Stallworth said on Twitter on Monday morning. "For most of u, it's a GAME, when u play it's your LIFE... u put your heart, blood & sweat into training, preparation & playing... IT HURTS!!"
Stallworth was a member of the almost-perfect Patriots in 2007 that ran the table in the regular season and the AFC playoffs before losing to Eli Manning, Michael Strahan and the Giants, 17-14, in Super Bowl XLII.
"Just my thoughts, take it for what's it worth," the 30-year-old wideout continued via Twitter. "Now, I must start MY own preparation for a championship... Whatever team I'm on"
It is unlikely that Stallworth will return to the Ravens. He saw limited playing time in 2010 -- his inaction after returning from a fractured foot was a hot topic for frustrated Ravens fans during the season -- and the team selected two wide receivers, Maryland's Torrey Smith and Indiana's Tandon Doss, in April's NFL draft.
I'm with Stallworth, though. There's no shame in crying when coming up short of a title -- even for the hated Miami Heat.
