He isn't exactly following in Joe Flacco's footsteps -- more like those of Mike Flacco -- but another Flacco sibling will be coming to Baltimore from Audubon, N.J. in the fall. Brian Flacco, who like his two older brothers was a multi-sport star at Audubon High, plans to attend CCBC Catonsville and play baseball.
That was the path Mike took to Baltimore, and after one year at CCBC Catonsville, he was drafted by the Orioles in the 31st round in 2009 and now plays first base for the Single-A Delmarva Shorebirds. Of course, Joe is the most famous of the Flacco clan, being the starting quarterback of the Baltimore Ravens and all.
According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, Brian was a three-sport standout at Audubon. In the fall, he rushed for 1,159 yards and 16 touchdowns as a running back and made 171 tackles and forced 11 fumbles at linebacker, earning all-South Jersey football honors. He was a two-time district champion as a wrestler. And the senior entered the New Jersey state baseball tournament with a .402 average and had scored 33 runs.
"He's a gamer," Audubon baseball coach Rich Horan told The Philadelphia Inquirer. "He doesn't get worked up. He keeps the status quo. But he's always going to play hard."
Sounds familiar, doesn't it?
Anyway, be sure to check out The Philadelphia Inquirer's feature on Brian Flacco (which I found via Yahoo's Prep Rally via The Baltimore Sports Report via the magical Internet!).
