Turnovers are a natural, nearly unavoidable occurrence in games, but that doesn't mean Washington College coach Jeff Shirk has to accept or like them.
The No. 4 Shoremen turned the ball over 17 times in Wednesday's season opener at No. 10 York, which committed 22 total. But Washington College gave the ball away six times in the fourth quarter and overtime, including a failed clear that Spartans senior attackman Tyler Hutson (Winters Mill) turned into a goal just 28 seconds into the extra session for a 9-8 overtime win.
