Ravens cut Keith Wenning, Phillip Supernaw, sign Daniel Brown, two other undrafted free agents

The Ravens cut quarterback Keith Wenning and tight end Phillip Supernaw to make room for 3 undrafted rookies.

The Ravens have cut 2014 sixth-round quarterback Keith Wenning, reserve tight end Phillip Supernaw and undrafted rookie outside linebacker Darius Allen.

Wenning spent time on the practice squad last season. The Ravens have four quarterbacks under contract: Joe Flacco, Matt Schaub, Jerry Lovelocke (Edmondson) and Bryn Renner.

The tight end position got crowded during the draft when the Ravens drafted Maxx Williams in the second round and Nick Boyle in the fifth round. Supernaw, who caught three passes for 30 yards in eight games, had signed his exclusive-rights tender.

The Ravens signed three undrafted rookies, including James Madison wide receiver Daniel Brown and Rhode Island linebacker Andrew Bose following successful rookie minicamp tryouts, and Alabama offensive guard Leon Brown.

The Ravens are expected to place former Oklahoma cornerback Julian Wilson on injured reserve after he broke his leg during the minicamp.

Daniel Brown is a 6-foot-4 6/8, 227-pound receiver who ran the 40-yard dash between 4.52 and 4.58 seconds at his campus Pro Day workout.

He has big hands and long arms, 9 7/8-inch hands and 34 1/4-inch arms. He had a 9-8 broad jump and a 32-inch vertical leap. He bench pressed 225 pounds 11 times and had a 6.88 three-cone drill and a 4.19 short shuttle.

Brown caught 42 passes for 606 yards and seven touchdowns last season. As a junior, he had 42 catches for 665 yard and eight touchdowns. He was a dean’s list student.

Growing up in Virginia, Brown was a first-team all-state selection and an all-conference choice who also played basketball and baseball.

Bose, who grew up in Huntingtown, had 125 tackles and 4.5 sacks last season at Rhode Island. He was a second-team all-conference selection and had 76 tackles as a junior.

In high school, Bose was a three time All-Southern Maryland Athletic Conference selection. He rushed for 878 yards and 25 touchdowns as a senior.

Leon Brown played offensive tackle and guard at Alabama. The 6-foot-5, 332-pound former junior college All-American went undrafted after running the 40-yard dash in 6.0 seconds at his Pro Day where he also had a 20-inch vertical leap.

Brown is a Parkdale graduate from Riverdale who was an all-county selection who chose the Crimson Tide over Oklahoma, Mississippi and Tennessee.
