In a radio interview shortly after he was released by the Carolina Panthers, his team of 13 seasons, Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith said everyone should "put your goggles on 'cause there's going to be blood and guts everywhere" if he ever faced his former team.
Stop me if you've already heard this, but that's what's on tap this week at M&T Bank Stadium, and at least one of Smith's former teammates is ready.
Running back DeAngelo Wiliams, who played eight seasons with Smith, spoke to reporters in Charlotte, N.C., on Thursday wearing ski goggles, indicating he's ready and his former teammates have been listening to Smith since he left.
As a human being, I feel required to say that I hope no such blood and guts are spilled Sunday. I will say that I feel like this game is just as big to the Panthers as it is to Smith, so the "blood and guts" sentiment might be shared.
