Mount St. Mary's leads, 15-13, in this series, but have dropped the last 13 meetings. Georgetown hasn't lost to the Mountaineers since May 4, 1991 when they won, 12-10. Mount St. Mary's evened its record at 2-2 courtesy of Saturday's 15-4 rout of VMI. Here are a few factors that could play a role in the outcome at Multi-Sport Field inWashington, D.C., on Tuesday night.
1) Reducing turnovers. The Mountaineers are averaging a healthy 10.0 goals per game this season, but they also are committing an average of 15.3 turnovers per contest. That's not a good development against a Hoyas squad that leads the Big East in caused turnovers with 12.7 per game.
2) Winning faceoffs. Georgetown redshirt sophomore Tyler Knarr is winning 62.5 percent of his faceoffs (25-of-4), including 11-of-14 against Maryland junior Curtis Holmes. It will be incumbent on junior Jon Marsalese, who outdueled VMI senior Stephen Robarge and won 14-of-20 draws, to be equally as effective against Knarr and senior Brian Tabb (13-of-35).
3) Testing Winter. The Hoyas have won their last two games on the strength of senior walk-on goalkeeper Brian Winter. Mount St. Mary's must test Winter early and often and relieve some of the pressure on sophomore goalie Chris Klaiber, who has registered a 10.39 goals-against average and a .487 save percentage.
