Maggie McCormick (Liberty) scored a career-high six goals as she led the host No. 9 Penn State women's lacrosse team to a 13-12 victory over James Madison at Holuba Hall on Wednesday night.
The Nittany Lions improved to 4-1 with their third straight win, and the Dukes fell to 3-1. Penn State scored five goals in the first 4:13 of the game en route to a 10-4 halftime lead.

Katrina Martinelli scored twice in the first half and assisted on the go-ahead goal in the second half as host Rutgers (4-1) earned a 6-5 victory over No. 19 Pennsylvania (0-3). Martinelli helped break a 3-3 tie by feeding Haley Barnes with 14:06 left in the game and Rutgers never trailed again. ... Covie Stanwick (Notre Dame Prep) scored four goals, but No. 20 Boston College (2-3) lost, 17-10, to No. 4 Northwestern (4-1). Stanwick gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead less than three minutes into the game before the host Wildcats scored the next nine goals. Erin Fitzgerald had five goals for Northwestern. ... Alyse Maiden had four goals to lead host No. 18 Drexel (5-0) to a 14-10 win over Villanova (1-2). The Dragons outshot the Wildcats 30-15 and won 16 draws. ... Lindsey Allard had a hat trick and seven players scored as No. 13 Dartmouth (4-0) won, 12-7, over Boston University (1-1). Dartmouth used a 4-0 run to build a 5-1 lead with 19:27 left in the first half. Danielle Etrasco scored three goals for the host Terriers.
Sam Hurster scored five goals on six shots to power No. 15 Brown to a 14-4 decision over host Hartford (0-3). Freshman Henry Blynn and sophomore Tim Jacob scored two goals each for the Bears. Brown faceoff specialist Tommy Capone won 15 of 22 faceoffs, including 10 of the first 12, and picked up nine ground balls.
Because of inclement weather, six games were not played. Two games — the Southern Virginia (0-3) men at Frostburg State (3-0) and CCBC-Catonsville women (0-0) at Hood (2-1) — were canceled. Two were postponed without a makeup date: UMBC men (1-3) at No. 1 Maryland (4-0) and Wesley (1-3) women at Notre Dame-Maryland (0-1). Two were rescheduled: No. 16 Towson women (1-3) at American (0-5) on April 9 at 3 p.m. and Goucher women (2-2) at Frostburg State (1-1) on April 16 at 4 p.m.
Johns Hopkins freshman midfielder Dene' DiMartino was named the American Lacrosse Conference Rookie of the Week.
