Loyola moving Saturday's women's lacrosse game to Syracuse

Loyola Maryland's women's lacrosse game against Syracuse Saturday is being moved to Syracuse "out of an abundance of caution" over of the volatile situation in Baltimore in the wake of Monday's rioting.

Loyola coach Jen Adams and Syracuse coach Gary Gait mutally agreed to move the game, the final regular-season game for both teams. The game will be played at 1 p.m. at the Syracuse Soccer Stadium.

As a result, Loyola also will play its season opener next year at Syracuse as scheduled but the Orange will come to Baltimore in 2017 and 2018.

The game features two NCAA Tournament-bound teams who will find out where they land in the tournament bracket after Sunday night's selections.

The No. 14 Greyhounds won their second straight Patriot League title to earn their automatic berth while the Orange won its first Atlantic Coast Conference title to secure a spot in the 24-team field.
