Recruiting notes: Curley, St. Paul's rising seniors give commitments

With classes set to begin soon, a pair of local rising senior boys lacrosse players have made oral commitments to colleges.

Archbishop Curley defenseman Johnnie Tornabene has committed to UMBC. Tornabene was a three-year varsity starter and All-Conference player at Curley for coach John Tucker. Also a starter for Maryland Lacrosse Club, Tornabene helped it reach the championship game at the June Session of Brine Shootout and to win King of the Hill. Tornabene also considered Dartmouth, Drexel and Salisbury.

Also, St. Paul's senior defenseman Bennett Moore has chosen Hobart. The 5-foot-11, 188-pound recruit is a three-year starter, a captain for next season and a headmaster's list student. He plays club lacrosse with the Chesapeake Rock and Baltimore Breakers Lacrosse. An Under Armour Uncommitted team member, Moore was a Philly Showcase All-Star and 3d in FLG All-Star. He participated in the Under Armour Shootout, Nation High School Classic and King of the Hill. Other schools considered included Hamilton, Richmond and Amherst.
