It remains to be seen how long Johns Hopkins will hold out star attackman Chris Boland with a shoulder injury, but Blue Jays head coach Dave Pietramala isn't too concerned about using freshman Wells Stanwick to replace Boland.
Pietramala points out Stanwick's pedigree, but he just isn't talking about the family's success in lacrosse.
"There is more to than when I say pedigree," said Pietramala. "I'm also talking about high school, Boys Latin, where Wells played and who he played for. He played for Bobby Shriver, who is great in teaching the fundamentals of the game and has had tremendous success. Wells played in perhaps the best high school conference in the country, so he already knew what it was like to play in big games. From day one in the fall, we had four goals rotating at attack, and Wells was one of them along with Boland, Zach Palmer and Brandon Benn. So, they did have some time working together and in the past, we haven't shied away from playing young guys. If you're one of our best players, you're going to get on the field."
